November in the Garden

There's only one more day left in November and we still haven't had a killing frost. Lots of flowers are still gaily blooming, seemingly unaware of their imminent demise.

The temperature has been about 10 degrees above normal for this time of the year, so the late blooms are no surprise.

Everyone's equal in the garden. We can all dig in the dirt, plant seeds, and wait for them to grow...or not. Gardening's both personal and universal. We can create our own unique vision and still relate to others' views of what their gardens symbolize. What's more spiritual than planting a seed and truly believing that it will sprout and grow into a plant? It doesn't matter what kind of gardener you are, just that you try. Daisy and Alice (in Alice in Wonderland) had it right in their own way.

Daisy: "What kind of a garden do you come from?"
Alice: "Oh, I don't come from any garden."
Daisy: "Do you suppose she's a wildflower?"
